Introducing FACT 2011 Speaker: Melora Jackson
Melora Jackson is the Training & Program Specialist for the southern half of Mississippi’s Division of Alzheimer’s Disease & Other Dementia, under the Department of Mental Health.
Prior to joining the Department of Mental Health and during her first year in Mississippi, Ms. Jackson worked for the Southern MS Area Agency on Aging as the Medicare Insurance Coordinator and Health Care Promotions Specialist. Previously, Ms. Jackson was the Director of Senior Services and Director of Community Services for a non-profit agency in Portland, Oregon.
Melora Jackson has authored numerous articles and presented on many aging & dementia topics, as well many other topics and issues throughout her career. Ms. Jackson has served as President of the former South MS Alzheimer’s Association, now the Alzheimer’s Foundation of the South, and as a member of the governing board of NorthShore Psychiatric Hospital in Slidell, Louisiana. She also serves as an advisory council member to the Southern Mississippi Area Agency on Aging.
Melora has a B.A. in Psychology from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington and holds a Master of Science in Human Development & Family Studies with a Gerontology emphasis from Colorado State University. Additionally, she is a Certified Mental Health Therapist.
